The acquisition of non-human tissue is performed under permits from the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food of the Territorial Services in Barcelona. Certificate permits numbers: 0006S/14511/2015 and 0006S/1412/2015. This procedure, in accordance with Article 32 of the Decree 214/1997 of July 30th concerning the protection of animals used for experimentation and other scientific purposes.
Cytes Biotechnologies, S.L. offers preclinical model hepatocytes, using the same methodology used in the human hepatocytes' isolation. Hepatocytes are fully characterized.
Nowadays, the species available are:
Cytes Biotecnologies, S.L. offers the non-human hepatocytes in various formats:
Animal hepatocytes are model systems often used for a variety of in vitro screenings and analysis prior to clinical studies. As in human cells, hepatocytes in suspension are important for short term metabolism studies whereas plated animal hepatocytes are useful for long term studies.
Fresh animal hepatocytes are used for:
Cytes Biotechnologies, S.L. offers cryopreserved hepatocytes well characterized and qualified for key applications in different formats:
• Cryopreserved Plateable Hepatocytes
• Cryopreserved Suspension Hepatocytes
• Rigorous QC standards.
• Extensive application based characterization.
• Proprietary media for recovery, plating and maintenance of cells.
• Tested for yield, viability, and morphology.
Animal hepatocytes are carefully prepared by using isolation and cryopreservation methods and tools that are also applied for fresh human hepatocytes.
Cryopreserved hepatocytes can be stored for years at predefined conditions in the vapor phase of liquid nitrogen or in freezers at temperatures below -150°C. Available when research project needs them, they are an appropriate solution for sequential experiments over time. Most applications can be performed as using fresh hepatocytes in general considering that cryopreserved cells can be used following a limited number of thawing processes.
Cryopreserved animal hepatocytes are used in:
